I thought I would show Katelynn with some hats.

What's in a name?

When Katelynn was in the bath in the last post, she was yelling something that Jen could not understand. Finally she realized that Kate was yelling, "NATHAN." Jen asked if she was saying Nathan. Kate nodded. Jen asked if Kate wanted Daddy. Kate nodded and yelled again "NATHAN."

Is it normal for a less-than-two year old to call her dad by his name? Oh, the things children learn.

It did make me think even more about the words I say and what I talk about. I need to watch my mouth very carefully from now on (not that I am bad in anyway, just that even not-so-nice words that a toddler should not say occasionally slip through my lips).

Potty Training

Since Christmas break, Katelynn has been using the potty. She has her moments but has only been able to go when we put her on and does not often initiate the potty on her own. So Jen's goal is to have her potty trained before we go out to Palm Springs in May. We started a new system to give her one fruit snack if she sits on the potty, two if she goes wet, and three if she has poo-poos. 

We started Sunday night as she getting ready for her bath. Before Jen put Kate in her bath, she put her on the potty and gave her a fruit snack. Jen told her if she went wet or poo-poos that she would get more. Oh, did she try. After her bath she went wet and got another fruit snack. Then she tried for poo-poo but didn't get it. As we put her to bed and said night-night and left her room. She said, "Fruit Snack." Jen said they can try again in the morning. Kate said "Fruit Snack" about three more times as we closed the door and left her for the night. 

I think our system works too well. 

Say Cheese!

Katelynn has smiled for us for sometimes, but never for our camera. Just recently has she begun to let us take a picture of her cute smile.  She is squinty in this one but Wes is so sweet.

Elise came down and stayed with us for a week. Trenton came down and the whole family's kids were together for President's Day Weekend. We invited them all over with Trenton's friend and Dan for Sunday dinner. We made Chicken Parmigiana with Elise. Elise was such a big help while she was here. I would highly recommend that you let her come over and stay. The first day she had lunch and asked which leftover she should eat. Anyways, this meal would have been much more difficult if she had not been there.

You can partially see the current situation in Katelynn's mouth, at least the bottom. Lots of teeth coming in. She has been a grumpy gus the last few days.



Saturday morning I let Jen sleep in and watched Katelynn and did everything in my power to keep her quiet. One quiet activity was to play with the camera. 



And last but not least, the silly face picture, or the Not-smile picture.

Snow

We have been getting way too much snow. Katelynn is becoming a snow/ice expert. Perhaps she will not have the hatred that her father has for the stuff.

Katelynn wanted to show Ethan and Annalise the snow so she tried to take some pictures with her in the snow. The problem is when she saw the camera, she wanted to have it and so a disagreement commenced. 


So Jen tried another day.

Katelynn now has begun to eat snow too. We don't know where she got that from. Probably Jen.

After Dinner

Tonight as we were making dinner Katelynn noticed the cookies in the cookie jar and she begged and begged for the 'crackers', as she calls them. I asked her "When do we eat cookies?" and she replied "After dinner." (I'd like you all to know that I even got away without giving her a cookie tonight- we do not eat cookies every night after dinner.) I was so so shocked by her correct, very smart response. I don't think she has ever just given a response like that without repeating or being prompted by me in some way. She is talking SO much and singing along and growing up so fast. It is so much fun to watch her learn and grow everyday.

Snowy Days Spoof

We love Mike and Jen but after we watched their blog post about the snow up in Pullman we (Dan, Jen, and I) drove home that night from Salt Lake and I had the camera out and spoofed their snow driving. We still love you guys. Do you still love us?
