Katelynn can say her ABC's. I know, she is smart. Her mom has taught her well. We tried to get it on video, but she was getting too distracted. Let's just say she likes to help out and close doors. -- And hold the camera.
PS Katelynn has stayed again at Nursery. Three times in a row. YAHOO!! This time she didn't even need her blanket. Speaking of her blanket, she has been such a good girl lately. She puts it away when she wakes up in the morning and after nap and gets it when she goes to sleep. You have no idea how old she seems all of a sudden. She also WANTS to take her vitamins. They are so nasty. Imagine chewing your vitamin, and that is about what hers are like, but she asks to take them and always makes a face after so you know it is nasty. She just grabs her water, takes a drink, then opens wide to show us that her vitamins are gone. (Then makes sure mommy and daddy take theirs.) They grow up too fast. She isn't our little baby any more. It's a little sad, she is our little girl. Scary.

Happy Easter!
This is the first Easter that Kate was aware enough to be meaningful. Kate found all the eggs that the Easter bunny hid. And she got a chocolate bunny for breakfast. Aren't we nice?

Look at that face. Chocolate in the morning. What can be better?

Here is Katelynn in her Easter dress.

Outside helped it look better.

Egg Hunt. Do you see the egg? That was one of the last ones to be found.

The spectators. I was pretty proud of this shot.

Kate loved the candy.

She really liked the candy.

It took all her focus.

Only Dan could distract her.

Kate really, really loved her candy. Dan was good company though.

Easter Egg Colors
Sorry for not posting for a while. I have been way busy dealing with exams, papers, graduate school applications, and stuff.
On Saturday night, Dan and Casi came over and we colored Easter eggs. It was fun. We were worried about the results with Katelynn and dye. So Jen put her in one of her old shirts.

The shirt didn't last long. It came off in a few seconds.
Here are our eggs. The awesome solid colored ones at the top are mine. Kate had a lot of fun coloring the eggs with the dye on a sponge.

Dan had fun.

Casi. This was Casi's first time at our home, but you couldn't tell by the way Kate acted with her. She didn't want to sit with Dan, but with Casi. Mind you, Dan is one of Kate's favorite people. We can't tell her Dan is coming over until just a little before. She will watch out the window waiting for Dan and squeals when he gets to our home. Despite this love for Dan, she liked Casi more. Bummer Dan.

I gave Jen ample time to smile or pose for this picture, but this is all I got.

PS Katelynn stayed in nursery again. Jen was only in there for 10 minutes and took off. In fact, during Sunday School, Jen needed to change Kate's diaper and when Jen took her back, Kate looked straight at Jen as she left and didn't get upset one bit. As one nursery person put it when I picked her up this week, "It is like night and day!" There is no gradual with Kate, when she is ready, she is ready. (And will let you know)

Birthday for Jen - Part 2
Kate was sick the weekend of Jen's birthday so we couldn't accept an invitation up to Jen's Grandma Barnes for a birthday dinner for Jen. So we postponed it to this weekend. Dan came along as well. Dan and Kate were fun.

Grandma Barnes got a cat. I am allergic to cats (and dogs to a lesser degree) and so the cat was shut up away so I didn't die. The cat is a vicious creature. All those evil allergens.

Kate and Dan had fun looking at the cat. Toward the end, the cat was let out and Kate chased it the rest of the time.

Dan and Kate were cute.

Don't let it fool you. It wants you to think it is cute and cuddly. But don't let the sheep's clothing fool you for a second. It is vicious.

Dan had to study accounting because he has a test coming up. I was so happy to see someone studying accounting.

Dan thinking he is all that.

To the cake.

I love Katelynn's look on her face.

Jen got one big piece.

Kate is a cuddler.

Aren't they great. It was fun to be up with Grandma Barnes.

PS Katelynn stayed at nursery. And didn't cry much either. Jen was there until 10 minutes left in Sunday School and Kate was there the rest of the time. So she was there without Jen for about an hour and ten minutes. Let's see if she can do it again next week.

In with the New
We cut Katelynn's hair over the weekend. Here is a picture from before the cut. We thought that she was starting to get a strong mullet. We decided at the beginning of the month to give it a month before deciding to cut it or not. Jen decided it needed to be cut and told some friends. I later that day said in front of those friends that it needed to be cut. So that settled it.

Silly Kate.

I am woman, hear me roar.

Here is the cut. What do you think?
In other news, it has now warmed up enough for it to be converse weather. I can't wear converse with ice, but I think we are freed from that oppression (hopefully) so the converse All-Stars came out. Jen reminded me that I got some new converse for Christmas. So I laced them up and wore them this weekend. Aren't they awesome?

Jen's Birthday
Last week was Jen's birthday and we had a good evening. Dan and Wes came over and we had cake. Here we are. Mike and Jen are much better at the whole taking-pictures-of-yourself pictures than we are. Ours turn out decent.

Wes and Dan hanging out. They like to be comfortable at our place.

So Jen was on the phone and Dan, Wes, and I were so excited to dig into the cake that we forgot to sing or do candles. Opps!
So we put the piece back in and put the candles in place and lit them ablaze.

At least she was happy.

She got her wish. If she made one, did you make a wish Jen? Nope, well maybe it works retroactively.

Happy Birthday Jen! One year older and wiser too.

Papa's Lizard
Jen's dad does a funny lizard face. Kate copied it today at dinner and did it pretty good.

Exciting News!!
Because Nathan normally does all the blog posting I am a little surprised he hasn't gotten this news up for all to hear. He went to California a few weeks ago for an interview for an internship this summer. We found out last Thursday that he got the internship. He is so excited to be one step closer to being done with school and out in the real world. I actually don't know if he is more excited to get thisinternship or if Katelynn is more excited to be with her cousins all summer. She loves Ethan and Annalise SO much. We've been looking for bathing suits, and Katelynn talks about swimming with her cousins all the time. I don't think she understands that it is almost totally unlikely that she will like swimming for most of the summer. It is going to be a fun summer!! Strangely enough, I have some mixed feelings about it. It will be so much fun to be in CA with family but I really will miss all the friends we've made. Luckily we still have 2 months to have fun in Utah.
