Tyler has never really laughed. He fights the laugh and will scream and squirm, anything but a laugh. He is a smiler and almost always has a smile on his face. Just not a laugher. We Kate finally got him to laugh. He was a little sad and was crying and Kate waved her princess wand at him and this is the result.

Our Cute Kids
Kate saw her cousin Anna on a video chat with pig tails and wanted some so bad. Jen put in some of her own rubber bands but they were very big so Jen bought her some smaller ones. Kate has had pig tails constantly since. Even when she woke up one morning and was needing to take a bath soon, she wanted the pig tails put in and as soon as she is out of the bath, before any clothes were put on.

We took Tyler to take his 6 month pictures at JC Penny on Saturday and figured we would get Kate in there too. It seems that on picture days naps don't go as well as they should. So Ty was a little fussy but we got a few good pictures of him. The two together were a little harder though and we only got one semi-good picture. Ty is crying and Kate is kissing him. So Jen took some pictures with them together.

Here are some of Ty all by himself.

Spring at last
We have been enjoying the nice weather this last week. Jen and Kate have been at the park everyday, multiple times most days. Kate had to get used to swinging high again and I think we need to get her into slides so we don't have to swing her all the time. Everyone is excited for the warmer weather. I keep saying "Wouldn't you like to have perfect weather all the time?" I love nice weather. But I grew up in Southern CA so that's how it goes I guess.

Ty just chilled in the swings. Jen pushed him a little but he wasn't sure what to think of it.

Waz up?

Kate now says "Dad, I am brave. Push me higher."

Wedding of Kevin and Mandy
During spring break, Jen's cousin Kevin married Mandy in the Manti temple. We were happy we were only in Provo which made it easier to make it on time. Here is the brand new family.

Kate had a different smile for most of the day, a kind of rosebud smile.

Here Kate is with her second cousin, Chani who is Kevin's brother, Brad's, daughter. They are a couple months apart. She was a little scared of me until the end of the day. I don't blame her though, I scare myself sometimes. This was the only picture I got of her looking at me with a camera.

Tyler did not want to look at the same time as Katelynn.

Here is the Manti temple's waiting room. From there we went to the luncheon but we didn't get any pictures there. Then we went to the reception.

Here is Jen's cousins, Kevin's sisters.

Katelynn played with Chani most of the night. They ran around and had a good time.

Brad and Tia's family.

Dan played with Tyler and Ty was looking at him and it was so cute. But when I pulled out the camera Ty couldn't stop looking at the camera.

Finally Dan was able wrest Ty's attention back.

Here is Tyler's scream. Can you tell if he is screaming for joy or frustration?

The last hour of the reception was a dance. Everyone had fun dancing.

Especially Kate.

Crazy Dancing Fools. I wasn't dancing much because Ty was exhausted and needed to be cuddled.
Dan, Dan, Dan the dancing man.

Here are the cousins with the groom.

Wes is so good with Kate. I think one day he will make a good daddy.

It was a fun, but exhausting, wedding. Congrats Kevin and Mandy.

Our little singing Kate
Kate has been singing lately all around the house. She rarely, which means never, sings on command so we haven't been able to so off her singing. She mostly sings Little Mermaid songs. The Little Mermaid was my sister's favorite movie growing up (in fact she named our dog Ariel). My mom gave Kate the Little Mermaid, I think in part because Lyss liked it so much. So Kate has those songs in her head. I don't know if you can see it but she flips her hair back as she sings.
Kate was running around the house singing so Jen set the camera to try and catch some of it. With her going around into different rooms it was hard to get much that you can hear on the video. Here is what we got.

One Year Wiser
Jen had her birthday while we were down in Provo. It was great to be near so much family and to have everyone there. Kate thought it was so exciting to have a birthday party but I think she started to think it was for her. Ty was excited too.

Kate was too excited and hyper to sit still for the camera.

Alyssa and Bella were there. Ben had to work so we missed him.

Kate really loved to wrap and then later open Jen's presents. Jen is such a good mom and sport about the whole thing. Kate ran up to Jen after we wrapped the presents earlier in the day and said she wrapped the presents. Jen asked what the presents were. Kate told her a pink shirt and a green shirt. I was not there and didn't hear her say that to Jen. I thought at this point that Kate had not said anything to Jen. Well that's what you get for including your kids in the wrapping of presents.
Then we did the cake. I made the cake earlier but couldn't find any round cake pans at my grandparent's home. Jen like the layered cake, because it has more frosting and that is what she likes most about cakes, and all I had was a 13x9. So I baked the cake in the 13x9 and cut it in half and stacked them together. It didn't want to stay stable and kept sliding. It was an ugly cake but it tasted good.
Kate during the happy birthday song started to say "mom" but everyone else said "Jennifer" so Kate says "Momiffer."

Kate helped blow out the candles.

Kate clapping her hands over her head after the candles are blown out.

Dan was there.

And Wes.

Jen is the best wife I could have hoped for mostly because she is my best friend. She is a great mother and teaches me about parenting all the time. I definitely do not show my appreciation for her enough and is something I need to work on in the future.
I was glad she was able to celebrate it with family around. I hope Jen had a good birthday. Happy Birthday JEN!! Here's to One Year Wiser.

Spring Break
My first, my last, my only spring break was last week. We were mostly without internet for the entire week, March 6th to the 15th. I only barely survived (actually I did very well, it just made me realize just how much I use and depend on the internet- almost as much as electricity). On our way down we stopped at Grandma Barnes' home and visited. We didn't want to leave but I am deathly allergic of her cat (and by deathly I begin to have a hard time breathing if I am there to long, and yes I take a anti-allergy medication before I go over which allows me to stay a little longer) and we needed to beat the Friday commuter traffic.

We stayed at my Grandparent's home and while there Ty decided to roll from his back to his front. He has only done it a couple times since, he gets close but he will lunge back to his back when he is almost completely on his front. So we haven't caught the actual turning but here he is after.

Ty eating for the first time
I have another good excuse for no posts, there weren't many interesting things for a week and last week we were in Provo for Spring break at my Grandpa's house with no internet.
Anyway, we decided to give Ty some "solid" food a couple days before the trip. It consists of milk mixed with a few cereal flakes. Here Ty is before the process started. I thought he had the best reactions and that there are several good pictures of him.

As the feeding went on he did seem to like it as much. The novelty must have run out.

Here is some video of the feeding.
A little over a week later he is now eating twice a day and a good amount of food each time, not tons but a good amount.
We did miss feeding him last Friday and Saturday and he only slept 6 hours (what he was doing until a week before) while earlier in the week he had been doing 7.5 to 8 hours. Seems he was a hungry boy.
