Our little shopper

As the sun got higher in the sky, the sun would get in Kate's eyes as Jen and Kate would take me to school/work. Kate started to ask for sunglasses 2-3 weeks ago. She started saying "sunglasses" while pointing to her eyes all the time. She said it to my mom at some point and my mom told her she was coming up soon and would buy her some. Kate was so excited. She then told everyone "Grandma sunglasses." She really could not wait to go shopping with my mom. She is a natural. My wallet already is hurting in anticipation.

End of a chapter

Our life is in a bit of a transition. During this last week, I have graduated from BYU and we have moved all our stuff out and are living in California. The last few weeks have been very busy with finals and packing. Life has slowed down a little and so I will play a little catch-up. Here is our life in turmoil a couple days before the move. Jen was so good and had everything in perfect order the day of the move.

The first day of graduation, or commencement, was a cold day. My dad and I went to look for boxes and it was snowing. It was a lot of snow. I am glad to be in CA. My dad also covered the whole time they were in Utah. There are some good pictures there.

So I walked. Elder Bednar was the speaker. He said that he has been to dozens of commencements and he doesn't remember a single speech. So as a graduation present he said he would keep he speech short. It was good, but I was glad it was short.

Everyone, including Kate, was glad.

Kate was a little scared of the whole outfit.

Who could have asked for a better spouse? I definitely could not have. I had the unique opportunity of starting at BYU married. I mean I have not taken a single BYU class as a single person. Jen really helps me and pushes me to my potential. I really owe my degree to her. I know there would be a good number of people the would shocked that I even made it into a college, let alone BYU or into the accounting program at BYU. I think without Jen they would have been right.

My parents really helped too. They saw that potential, I just drove them nut proving them wrong all those years.

Don't I look spiffy.

The classic sign picture. There was no line because we ran over after commencement. Elder Bednars speech talked about the sign REALLY says "Enter to Learn to Learn and Serve. Go Forth to Learn and Serve." Or something like that. But that is way too long so they shortened it. (That was joke, don't start quoting that in sacrament meeting.)

I thought this was a cool shot. Jen saw a guy taking a girls picture here as I was standing in front of the sign. The "Y" in the background, the Tanner building, and the sign.

We have an Announcement . . .

We have had a very interesting past month. We found out that I was 8 weeks pregnant!! Hurray! Then when I went to the doctor for my 10 week apt he said that he thought I was more like 14 weeks, but definitely no less than 12 weeks. So two weeks later (fri) I went in for an ultrasound and she said that I am 16 weeks. So now I am four months pregnant and I've barely even known it! If you count back, I found out I was pregnant in week 12, meaning I had already finished my 1st trimester. I wish every pregnancy would be like this!

The ultrasound lady could not see if it was a boy or girl. She thought she saw that it was a boy, so she said she was 80% sure it was a boy. We shall see. Here are the pictures we got, a face, arm, and foot.

(Note from Nathan: For the eagle eyed blog reader out there this would not be any new news because they would have noticed the little application counting down the days at the bottom of the page that has been there for a while.)

Mickey Mouse Clubhouse

Kate has fallen in love with Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Well, at least the opening and closing song. Here she is with the Hot dog (the closing) song.

She likes the beginning one too. It has all the characters and she likes to name them off in the roll call.

HOT DOG!

Grandma and Papa Mandy

Last week my mom, dad, and Jarrod came and visited us up in cold Utah. My dad made the trip efficient and get some of his seminar hours for his license. So they stayed in Las Vegas for a bit and were here last Sunday. Right when it snowed. Welcome to Utah mom and dad. With us going to Logan next year, I want to know where I can sign up for some Global Warming for next year. It will only be 8 months. That is what I tell myself.

Katelynn found some jewelry. She loves to dress up now. She is our little cutie pie.

Everyone but me (who was working and in class) went to the Zoo one day. Kate liked looking at the animals.

For my dad's birthday, we went to PF Chang's. I love going to PF Chang's, and there Mongolian Beef. Mmmmmm. My grandparents went. I am going to miss them. We have been so lucky to live so close to them. We definitely loved living so close to them.

My dad got a new digital camera for his birthday that he opened at PF Changs. He got a picture of everyone.

Do you like Jarrod's haircut?

The whole crew.

Although I had a huge project due the day before they left, I was glad they were able to come and visit. We will see them soon.

Our weekend

We are packing up (and by "we" I mean Jen with me to help every once in a while) and getting ready for the move. We are moving to Orange County for the summer internship and then probably to Logan for graduate school. So all our stuff is being boxed up. Well we needed to move Katelynn's high chair out of the office for a little bit to get out of the way for some of the packing stuff. Well Katelynn had a blast with the chair. She sits in a booster seat now but always loves reminiscing about the good old days. Also, Anna has grown up and now sleeps in a bunk bed with Ethan, so her toddler bed is being given to Kate when we go down this summer. Kate is so excited about it. Also, she is a talker and while she says tons of words, they are always in a different order. Like "Anna's Bed and Papa's Home" can be "Home Papa, Bed, Anna" or any number of different ways of saying it.

So on Friday night we bought some strawberries and decided to make some crepes. We made enough and still had a ton of batter. We saved it and decided to eat Sunday breakfast with the yummy treats. I felt very healthy about it and it was tasty. Healthy and Tasty are two great things to have at the same time.

Kate even got in the health binge. She didn't like the crepes but did have strawberries in her cereal. There was some banana in there too.

Healthy is happy, huh Kate?
